About Chebli Mrad, MD

As a Hematologist Oncologist at Cleveland Clinic Florida and the Maroone Cancer Center, I care for patients with solid malignant tumors with a clinical focus on thoracic and head and neck malignancies. Additionally I see patients with advanced skin cancers and rare tumors including sarcomas.

Providing excellent care for our cancer patients requires a unique skill set and relies heavily on a collaborative approach by all members of the health care team. Our facility offers a full range of services to our patients, including diagnostic testing, ongoing disease management, and novel cancer therapies.

I began my education at the Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon where I received my medical degree. I completed my residency training in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York, NY. Then, I pursued a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.

Liked the dr and staff

Although Dr Mrad seemed knowledgeable he showed no compassion, had no bedside manner and had such a negative outlook. I understand with cancer patients its not always going to be good news, but he needs to work on his delivery of the information he gives patients. He was a second opinion and I regret even going there to see him. He really upset me and my family. And our first opinion with another facility was more optimistic and more hopeful. And thats what we needed.

I should clarify the circumstances here. I was diagnosed here in The Bahamas with follicular thyroid cancer and called Global to have them set up rather necessary appointments. My daughter in law requested an endocrinologist several times, but we were given appointments with an oncologist and ENT. Prior to coming my daughter in law called through to CC and asked to speak with the endocrinologist dept so she could determine if they would handle my case or if we should go to ENT. I would like to say that the staff member who spoke with her was not hepful in any way, was rude and said the nurse nor anyone from the department could speak with her about that. I listened to the entire conversation. I wish we'd had her name because she shouldnt interact with patients. I say this because my daughter in law is very savvy with medical processes etc and she was very surprised that someone from that department would not gove her 5 minutes to help guide her since Global seemed confused about where to send me as well. When I met with the oncologist who said he doesn't deal with thyroid cancer; he deals primarily with metastatic and terminal cancer patients so he didn't know why I was booked with him. I then saw the ENT who then said I should see an endocrinologist. Ta-dah. That's when my daughter in law called Global and expressed her frustration at the lack of guidance and direction provided by those making the appointments. They had wasted time setting me up with doctors who are not geared to my condition. Anyway, she managed to work with Lissette and get me in on Friday to see Dr Mrad. I am ever so pleased either her. I just wish we were directed to her in the first place.

Dr Mrad is impressive and I admire her educating me as the patient. That is important.

This time around, given the initial frustration at having flown internationally to see two doctors who weren't right for my condition, I was not very happy. Once we got it straight with Global and we were directed to Dr Mrad from Dr Trosman, we had a successful outcome. I'd like to note they did tell me I'd have to fly back over to see Dr Mrad on Sept 13 when I was there Aug 28. That's when my daughter in law called and explained the breakdown in placing me with a doctor suited to deal with my condition. We were then seen on Sept 1. Global did a good job of squeezing us in.

During the virtual cal the physician appear more personable. In person the connection was a bit off, but I realized it may have just been his personality. The virtual call made me feel more comfortable seeing a smile while discussing real concerning issues.
