Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 3/22/2024, Dr. Pena has reported the financial relationships with the companies listed below. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Exceptional service. I had a Dr appt with Dr Choi for issues with my spine. It was determined surgery was needed asap and Dr Pena and staff "squeeze" me in the same day and as a walking priority. Dr Pena and staff were most accommodating, courteous, friendly, yet professional.

Dr. Pena was excellent. She listened. She did phyical exam, she read the CT Scan report that I provided to her from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Dade from my ER visit there. She explained that she would schedule surgery to repair hernia but because I was experiencing a high amount of pain, she ordered MRI to determine if there was something else that was causing my pain, explaining that she did not want to put me through surgery that did not correct the problem. I was very pleased that she thought of this, as I am a stroke patient/survivor and at 81, unneeded surgeries are the last thing I want or need.

You scheduled my appointment an extra week out because Dr Pena would not be available , but I didn't see Dr Pena at all. The doctor I saw was excellent. Your parking is terrible. I paid $7 because I was not told that I could validate although I asked.

The first time I went to see Dr Pe?a another nurse came to treatment and I had to demand to see Pe?a. They said she was busy in surgery but she came within 10 minutes. The second time they said first she is seeing patients then later in the day I was told she is busy in surgery.
