Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 7/23/2020, Dr. Butler has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

139 Patient Satisfaction Reviews
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions shown below from our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Cleveland Clinic.

We were on time, we were taken promptly, and Dr. Butler was on time.

Having gone to the Clinic for over fifty years, I am always impressed by the concern of the nurses and doctors that I see. Further, I do look forward to these questionnaires, where I get a chance to praise these hard-working professionals.

Dr. Butler is an excellent physician and surgeon. He is no nonsense which I appreciate. He and his team were exceptional in working with me and providing great surgery and hopefully great outcomes.

Dr. Butler worked wonders when performing my spine surgery. I've highly recommended him to others having the same issues as me.

Dr. Butler is always considerate and is concerned about my well being -- is patient and allows me to ask questions -- explains options and why tests are needed and encourages me about that I will be well taken care of.

I am grateful that I was able to see Dr Butler in such short notice

It was with great pleasure that I saw Dr Butler. He helped me make the decision about my back surgery by pointing out that the quality of my life was the most important factor. I was depending too much on what my parents were thinking, because they just want me to be able to work in the distant future

Dr. spent less than 15 minutes with me. when I question the doctor about a nerve being pinched he told their was no never that was pinched. from one of my MRI records dated 03/08/20 "At the L5-S1, there is midline and para-midline disc herniation more prominent on the right side impinging on the right S1nerve root." My consultation with the doctor was less than 10 minutes. I felt as though I was discriminated because I am on Medicaid. my brother drove me 3 and a 1/2 hours to get me to the appointment and then another 3 and a 1/2 hours to go back home. I was in considerable pain and we had to stop several times. Just for a appointment that lasted less than 10 minutes. I would never go back to this doctor or again.

Doctor did not care about me and did not help me find a solution to my back problems. I am sure if I had money I would of be treated differently. Just because I am on Medicaid does not make me a less of a person.

A very quiet but highly responsive doctor. He left me with a feeling of concern on his part, and a resolution to my problem. His confidence in his craft is refreshing. No hem & ha's, just "let's fix this" !

The entire staff worked together to make time for me with very little notice. Home Care felt it was necessary for Dr. Butler to examine my incision. He saw me on between other surgeries. Wow! That concern and personal attention meant slit to me.

I am in very uncomfortable pain and it has increased a lot which is why I had MRI and made appointment with Dr. Butler upon recommendation after MRI not to wait. I had to wait for the appointment too long considering my discomfort.
