Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 9/26/2018, Dr. Cabrera has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. I went in to see Dr. Cabrera, instead I spent MOST of the time with his intern or assistant, who was very nice and saw the Dr. himself for a very short time. I had very little time with the doctor to discuss anything before I was dismissed with a list of medicines and I was told they had been sent to my pharmacy with very little explanation. It was like you went to see a football game but was allowed to see only a quick rerun of the game.

Bad experience. Left feeling worse than when I went in. Dr. Cabrera asked very little and I felt it was his intern or assistant who saw me rather than the Dr. I went in to see.

Dr. Cabrera consistently exceeds my expectations by simply being human and providing medical expertise and care....from his heart. He is never rushed and takes the time to explain and confirm understanding and has a special manner that relieves my anxieties in regards to anything medical. while I pray to never need surgery again...if I did, I would only want Dr. Cabrera to perform the procedure.

I spent 45 minutes waiting for my appointment and then another half hour in the examination room. I was charged $40 copayment for a follow up of prostate surgery in June. Dr. asked me how I was doing, and that was the extent of the visit . I think $40 is two minutes to pay for the doctor to ask me how I'm doing. I am very disappointed and annoyed. I don't believe I should have to pay for follow-up.

I was very pleased. The physician's nurse took a complete history and then the doctor himself went over everything with me. He listened carefully, made some recommendations and scheduled further tests for me to have done. I will return after these tests are done at a local hospital.
