Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 9/28/2017, Dr. Subramaniam has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

the doctor and nurse Donna were wonderful

The Doctor was held up in surgery. I felt this was understandable and definitely acceptable.

requested a neurosurgical appointment. were clear about what tests I had that they needed to see. called to set up the appointment 3 days after tests were sent and saw the neurosurgeon in a week. this has been a great relief to me as prior to this it had taken over 3 months from diagnosis to seeing a neurosurgeon in Dayton even though all the tests had been done in the first month. I was reluctant with the Dr I saw and made the decision to come to Cleveland Clinic. best decision I ever made

Once again this doctor improved the quality of my life. His team and staff always take excellent care if me. Thank you again!

I have had an incredible experience with the Cleveland Clinic. Between the Pain Management Clinic and Dr. Subramaniam has been fantastic. Dr. Subramaniam recommended performed a surgery that has enabled me to continue to work and be productive after many other doctors had said there really wasn't anything they could do and suggested I go on disability or retire. He is the greatest in my book.

Reviewed on Jun 14, 2018

Dr. Subramaniam always shows that he cares about my health and even with fantastic results from the surgery he had suggestions about how to continue to improve through regular exercise and continuing a home physical therapy program.

We were a little early and we were able to see the Dr. (and discuss everything we needed to discuss) and schedule a follow up for December, and we on our way home before our original appointment time.

am in the process of referring my brother in law from West Virginia to Doctor Subramaian

Reviewed on May 24, 2018

this was a follow up from surgery. During prior visits I was seen within an appropriate time. This visit I was in the clinic >60 minutes and probably closer to 90 minutes. The follow up appointment was made without my approval and was in a facility that I had not seen the Dr. previously.
