Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 7/16/2020, Dr. Vorster has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Both Dr. Vorster and his PA, Susan, have given the best care I could imagine or ask for.

Dr took the time to explain everything to me. We both came to a great decision as to what would be best for me. He acknowledged my fears and told me what I may expect so I'd most definitely recommend him to everyone.

I had an outstanding surgeon! His team is excellent - (*Dr. Vorster).

Both the PA and the Physician were very professional but more than anything, they made me feel as if I was their number one priority. They were kind, attentive, caring, compassionate, had informed me that they reviewed my case prior to my visit and gave me every confidence possible in my treatment from their care. They also provided me individual care that was focused on my values. That was extremely important to me.

Dr. Vorster is very good at describing my condition by drawing images, showing my scans and putting it all into simpler terms. He is funny and very friendly. A good doctor who put my mind at ease.

Dr Vorster is one of the very best; knowledgeable and courteous

Dr Vorster is a knowledgable and a wonderful DR. he clearly shares info and explains complicated issues in a way that gives clear understanding. As a brain neuro patient, I have encountered many neurosurgeons as dismissive. He truly listens and then explains why this symptom is happening. He makes a clear plan so i know where I am headed and what steps I need to follow. I am truly grateful he is my chiari doctor and my neurosurgen. He is the best.

I live in Virginia. Being able to do video visits is a huge help to me. The medical team at Cleveland Clinic understands my issues perfectly. I trust your knowledge and guidance of my doctor. it is good, though, to be able to check in without having to take two days off and drive there and back during this pandemic.

We traveled from Cincinnati to have a MRI done and had to do a virtual visit with Dr. Vorster. Because we had to do the visit in our car the connection was horrible. We were unable to do a virtual visit and it turned into a phone conversation. It is frustrating to travel almost 5 hours and not be able to see the doctor in person.

Dr. Vorster is great. However video visits are not. Especially when people are traveling.

Dr. Vorester is the absolute best. He scheduled my surgery as soon as possible and I was able to go to the CCRH in Avon.

The appointment had been setup for months and changed to a video visit about a month ago. Dr. Vorster called me through the CCF Express Care app
Reviewed on Jun 16, 2020
Our experience with the app was terrible, so much so that Dr. Vorster finally asked that we disconnect and he would call me via regular voice phone to complete the appointment. The problem with the app was a huge time lag. We could not communicate.
