Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

she was very attentive and took the time to exam and listen to me and my concerns. One thing she asked me that no other doctor did was what I wanted the outcome to be. she took a sincere concern for helping to find my problem and a solution.

This was my first visit with Dr. Hornacek, and I could not be more pleased with her care. She took the time to listen, explained all imaging and results very thoroughly, and was tremendously helpful in answering countless questions that come with a rare disease. Dr. Hornacek did not rush the appointment and took all the time necessary to explain, clarify, evaluate, and treat in a highly compassionate manner--being able to have this time with the provider absolutely is critical in providing expert, specialized care for a rare disease (especially when a patient spends significant time and money to travel from out of state, having adequate time for an appointment is extremely important). While there is a range of severity with the diagnosis, all cases come with significant risks, so it is very comforting when a provider does not downplay a case in the milder range, because it does not change the fact that one has a life-altering/threatening diagnosis if the correct precautions are not taken and warning signs are not recognized. Dr. Hornacek definitely is one of the best physicians I have ever encountered (and I have seen more than I can count at this point!)--her expertise, compassion and caring are invaluable, and I am privileged to be her patient.

She is a very nice doctor. She always asks how I am doing. If you have a question all you have to do is ask her and she will try to answer it. She's not one of those doctors that's in and out. She treats you like a person and not a number. She is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable

Overall my experience was very good, the provider was a little behind, but I didn't mind because she spent the necessary time required with my follow-up care. I left feeling I got everything I required from that visit and she cared about me as a person/patient.
