Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 5/21/2018, Dr. Hornacek has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. dr hornacek and staff are very courteous and seem to care about your needs

Overall my experience was very good, the provider was a little behind, but I didn't mind because she spent the necessary time required with my follow-up care. I left feeling I got everything I required from that visit and she cared about me as a person/patient.

Reviewed on Sep 24, 2018

great experience overall, I have never had a Doctor ever explain things so well and actually show me my scans. I am completely shocked in a good way!

My appmnt w/ Dr. Hornecheck was for 3:15. I never left CC until after 5:00 pm. Obviously, I waited off and on to be seen. It seemed to take too long between nurse visit, intern exam, and then Dr. Hornecheck to arrive. She did spend time w/ me and I felt confident on her knowledge of my disease, but I feel I waited too long.

Reviewed on Jul 5, 2018

Not sure but think wait time may have been due to doctor consulting with physician I saw that morning. However no one came into the exam room or told me it would be 40 minutes. This was an unscheduled visit so the wait was understandable. Just think someone could have told me that she was consulting with other doctor.

This Doctor treated me like I was important and she listened to my questions and answered them.

We value Dr. Hornacek's clarity and thoroughness. and kindly manner. She provided realistic explanation of the importance of cooperation and need for effective sharing by other physicians involved in declining, aging care but outside the Clinic practice.

Reviewed on Jun 5, 2018

It took an hour to get into the exam room. I had to ask how behind the Dr was.

Reviewed on Jun 4, 2018

It was explained to me that doctor was running late. I am fully aware that this can happen and I appreciated the explanation.

Dr. Hornacek spent a lot of time with me to explain my tests and compare the results to previous tests. She let me know the plan for my care over the next few years. She answered all of my questions completely.

Reviewed on May 15, 2018

Dr. Debra Hornacek is excellent along with her staff, and all of Cleveland Clinic's staff at the main campus. It was my first visit and again it was a magnificent visit. I was able to receive the results of my test except itwas scheduled on her off day which Dr Hornacek didn't request. After waiting two days I called to schedule the test not knowing Dr Hornacek was off. So, I should receive my test results on my next scheduled appointment. Thank you!

Reviewed on Feb 16, 2018

Dr. Hornacek listened to my questions and explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand.

Reviewed on Jan 26, 2018

Dr. H has always been good about referring me to other CC providers when she learns of concerns outside of her specialty.

Reviewed on Nov 20, 2017

I have to correlate her appointment with dr. goto which is very difficult to try to have both on the same day because I drive 4 hours to get there.
