Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

I would say Dr Spindler is batting a thousand when it comes to my care

Reviewed on Oct 24, 2018

I have nothing against this doctor. He appeared to have good ratings when I checked him out. He was just too busy. I looked up the medication on line and then spoke to my pharmacist about it. My pain began after a specific workout, and the doctor seemed quick to put it off on arthritis--even with x-rays. X-rays showed more problems with my left knee--which had no pain; so he tended to disregard the right knee which was extremely painful. I realize I am not a doctor, and I usually trust doctors totally. But I am becoming annoyed with the lack of listening that seems to happen with specialist. Please know there is nothing personal behind this. Perhaps if he were my regular doctor it would be totally different; I just don't know.

There is a large chart in the recreation area that lists the doctors and indicates if they are on time or running behind. While they listed on time, they were not. My wait time was over 40 minutes. Once in the room it was not bad, but I was given the physician assistant who ended up giving me the wrong information (said I needed physical therapy--which I did not). I saw the actual doctor for perhaps 10 minutes--no connection, no real concern. At least that is how I experienced it. I go back next week--we shall see.
