Biography

About Michael Bloomfield, MD

Michael R. Bloomfield, MD, is a staff physician in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, and Assistant Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.  He completed orthopaedic residency training at Cleveland Clinic, and a fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction at the Rothman Institute/ Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.  He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.

Dr. Bloomfield specializes in all aspects of hip and knee replacement. His specific interests include the direct anterior approach for total hip arthroplasty, and robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement.  He practices at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and Hillcrest Hospital.

In addition to clinical practice, he is active in resident and fellow education, clinical research, and contributes to several professional organizations.

Dr Bloomfield is a 12 out of 10! I feel completely at ease knowing I will get the best care available. I would wait a year if I had to for care with him. I was there for my left hip, but he did a right hip replacement a few years ago.

Dr. Bloomfield is an exceptional physician. This is my second knee replacement with his talent. I told him my personal Physical Therapist, who earned his undergraduate degree at Case and has been doing therapy for several decades, said that my first knee had the least amount of swelling he had seen in his career!

The only negative was that Dr Bloomfield was booking out about 3 months when I made the appointment. I liked how the office ran. I didn't wait. Each caregiver was pleasant, courteous, and answered all of my questions. Dr Bloomfield didn't seem rushed to move on to the next patient.
