Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 4/1/2024, Dr. Karth has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Very thankful to have found Dr. Karth. She is very kind and positive and goes beyond her normal duties. She Advocated for me after I had my daughter In May and had a postpartum complication. She was just doing a quick visit on the postpartum floor since she saw I was there even though she was scheduled in the birthing unit. She also made it a point to stop in and check on me at a 1 week PP blood pressure check I had with a nurse. She heard and recognized my voice and even though I didn't have an appointment directly with her, she went out of her way to stop and come in my room to see how I was doing. It meant so much. I'm thankful to have found a doctor that cares so much!

My health issue turned out not to be a big deal, but Dr. Karth was great at reassuring me that it was good to come in and have it looked at.

Dr. Karth is always thorough, pleasant, and straight forward with options and her guidance on what she thinks the best option for me is given my medical history. I always appreciate feeling like she is collaborating with me in my care. She is an excellent physician and glad she's my OB/GYN.

I found that my care provider has generally been dismissive of my reproductive care. Since coming to this practice I've had two miscarriages and have never had any conversations about how or why this occurred other than to express that it's sad. I've had a variety of symptoms I was looking forward to discussing with my OBGYN, but she barely glanced at the blood work noting that if I have normal periods everything is fine and balanced hormonally. Just felt super rushed and awkward with student in the room. I left feeling shocked that I can't even have a 5 minute conversation about symptoms and potential causes or cures with my dr. My Primary, Endcronologist told me to review bloodwork with gyno and discuss with her, but she had no interest or time to discuss my physical symptoms. I either want birth control or I don't and if I have periods I'm fine. Seemed very odd and as I reflected on it I'm very disappointed.

My appointment was rescheduled 4 times. My original appointment was the end of November. It was rescheduled to the beginning of December, then rescheduled again for the end of February. I received a call that the February appointment needed to be rescheduled and I couldn't get in until April. When I told the scheduler my original appointment was November, she offered me an appointment with a CNP, saying that the appointment shouldn't need to be rescheduled. I then received a call that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. When I finished with the scheduler, I called the office and they were able to get me in with Dr. Karth in February.

Dr. Karth took another phone call while on her call with me. She was on the other phone call for several minutes and then once she returned to me, said she had other patients waiting. She then said she answered all of my questions- which she had NOT. Terrible service from a licensed doctor.

My only negative comment is that the room was where I was examined was not as clean as I expected. Most exam rooms of doctors are cleaner.
