Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 1/2/2024, Dr. Goforth has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. So very impressed with Cleveland Clinic! Everyone I have dealt with have been so courteous and professional. Dr. Goforth is amazing. Explained everything, answered all of my questions. Highly recommend him!

It was a waste of an appointment for me since I have no answers to my initial issue-the chronic headaches. Dr just prescribed a med which has way too many side effects without a cure.

Dr Goforth was awesome, so patient and understanding. A real gem in medical care.

First time video experience. Dr. Goforth was very patient, explained new medications, previous medication and medications that I am currently on that I received from my PCP and how it affects my migraines. This was my second visit with Dr. Goforth, I would recommend him to others.

Experience was great from the first phone call to Cleveland Clinic to set up an appointment, to walking into the Clinic and then meeting with Dr. Go forth. Everyone was helpful from the first phone call.

I have been struggling with headaches for almost 6 months and have been to two other headache "experts" with no results. My visit with Dr. Goforth was the first time I felt heard and taken seriously.

My visit went very well with Dr Goforth

Reviewed on Dec 6, 2023

I came to Cleveland Clinic from Fort Wayne, IN. I had a very uncaring neurologist who spent little to no time explaining what was going on with me. Dr. Goforth had been excellent and very caring. He spent as much time as I needed asking questions and providing information in a clear manner.

Reviewed on Nov 29, 2023

Dr. Goforth was very easy to understand and listened to my concerns. He answered al my questions while being both professional and polite. I never felt like I was just being too rushed. I believe he really cares about his patience.

Reviewed on Nov 22, 2023

Just like with all of the doctors at Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Goforth was very caring and listened to our concerns. We always tell people our story and recommend Cleveland Clinic to everyone!

Dr. Goforth, not a nurse, called a day or two later with results of lab work. Impressed!
