Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 8/31/2020, Dr. Medina has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

Dr. Medina really helped me, but even more importantly, he discussed weaning medication if not needed. I was extremely pleased with his knowledge, demeanor, and overall concern.

Reviewed on Aug 31, 2021

Dr. Medina listened to what I was saying and explained why the situation was not that easy. He provided guidance that the medicine has to be used for a period of time to achieve success. He explained about hydration which I am hearing for the 1st time. Ever since, I have been hydrating a bit more and using medicine regularly.

Reviewed on May 21, 2021

Dr.Medina was very detailed and made sure to care for my needs, he made sure I had my medications and took time and did not rush and seems sincere and caring.

Reviewed on May 18, 2021

Dr. Medina talked at a rapid pace without allowing me an opportunity to get a word in edgewise. I had to stop him and ask if I could explain why I was there. He was more focused on what he was reading. He did not explain what he was doing prior to doing it (scoping) or how the numbing agent he sprayed would affect me. He appeared to be in a hurry.

Dr. Medina is outstanding, transparent, honest, informative and caring.

At the end of the visit, I was waiting for my paperwork but no one showed up for about 20 minutes or so. Only when Dr. Medina passed by and realized I am still waiting, he informed someone to get me the paperwork which was done right away.

Reviewed on Mar 5, 2021

Had appointment wit DR but mostly all done by PA. The dr breezed in for about 5 minutes . All very rushed. Seemed to not be very concerned about my problems.

Reviewed on Mar 5, 2021

I waited for months to get this appointment with Dr. Then waited over one hour after appointment time. Then he comes in for about 5 minutes, in rush and seems not concerned about my problem - try these meds snd go see another Dr instead of really considering the issues and trying to solve them. Plus my understanding of info from CT turned out to be wrong.

Reviewed on Jan 22, 2021

I like how the doctors work as a team and communicate.

Reviewed on Jan 15, 2021

purpose of visit was to obtain baseline exam/eval and to establish relationship with provider. Dr Medina was an excellent listener, was patient and took time to explain and discuss. I feel very comfortable and confident knowing that if a problem should arise, Dr Medina will be the "go to" ENT guy here in FL.
