Dr. Carlos Romero-Marrero is the Gastroenterology Division Head and Director of the Liver Center in the Digestive Disease & Surgical Center at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health. He completed his medical school, residency and gastroenterology fellowship in the University of Puerto Rico, the top medical academic institution of Puerto Rico. He subsequently completed an advanced fellowship in liver transplantation at the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minnesota. Before joining Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, he spent 10 years as a staff physician at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. There he served as Chief of Hepatology and Associate Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program.
Dr. Romero-Marrero was instrumental in the establishment of the Hispanic Medical Clinic at Lutheran Hospital, a unique patient-centered model, established to address health disparities in the west side of Cleveland. He is also a former Co-Chair of SALUD, the Hispanic caregiver organization at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
The newly-established Liver Center at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health offers world-class patient-centered liver care and access to liver transplant services to Florida's Treasure Coast population.
