Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 8/13/2018, Dr. Perez has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

5 "Star" service and "Outstanding"Dr. Perez!!!

Reviewed on Aug 14, 2018

Dr. Rolando Perez is an excellent doctor with a lot of experience and I feel very good when I go to his office every 3 months because he cares about my health and because he is a very good person with tremendous personality. I will not change this doctor for any other physician at the clinic or anywhere else. He is definitively my number one care provider at Cleveland Clinic. My wife and I, we both see him every 3-4 months and he is taking very good care of our health 100%.

Some questions difficult to answer as may require not applicable. Dr. Perez does a great job , it's just sometimes time of day may be a factor, number of patients, etc. Difficulty with timely appointments is not his fault as many times he has no near future ones available, and I have to go elsewhere. This happens often.

I will be keeping Dr. Perez as my Primary Internist as I am new to Florida & I have found that Dr. Perez is a great clinician, professional & personable. He explains all tests results with you. I had my lab tests within a week of my follow up appt that is why there was not a need for staff to call me with the results because Dr. Perez was going to review the results with me. Dr. Perez also explored with me the options of for two surgeries, one age related diagnostic & one elective. He gave me the choice of another lab test before scheduling the date for the age related diagnostic surgery because of my concerns about anesthesia (as he also reassured me that the type of anesthesia for the age related diagnostic surgery was more of a sedation. For the second elective surgery, he made a referral for a consult with Dr. Newman. I would also like to note that Dr. Perez's Nurse is absolutely wonderful, wonderful!! As a women, I discussed with her first about the elective surgery I was going to discuss with Dr. Perez. Dr. Perez's Nurse was very professional, reassuring as well as informative about other questions I may want to ask Dr. Perez. The Clerical staff is also Great, personable & informative.
