Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 8/16/2019, Dr. Lu has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

I felt Dr Lu and her nurse were so informative and caring

Reviewed on Aug 15, 2019

Dr. Lu went beyond our expectations to assure the findings were correct and did a complete evaluation

Reviewed on Aug 2, 2019

Dr. Lui is wonderful with my care- I feel she leaves no stone unturned! she spends time with me and tries to work with my care between Cleveland and Erie.

Reviewed on Jul 17, 2019

Dr. Mei Lu was the worst doctor I have ever been to. She was very rude in her comments, did not listen to what I had to say, and wanted to focus on my health problems that I already see other doctors for. She wanted to discuss every issue I had except the only one I was sent to see her for. She ordered unnecessary tests that I will not be having. I am not returning to her and will be sure to tell my cardiologist why I am not going to see the doctor he sent me to for a test he conducted that came back abnormal.

Reviewed on Apr 19, 2019

all personal I had contact with treated me with dignity and respect. Dr Lu was both professional and personable. She made me feel at ease and I was able to describe my symptoms easily due to her pleasant

Reviewed on Apr 3, 2019

Dr. Lu was wonderful and made me feel better about my condition. She also informed me of things my primary care dr. never discussed with me from my test results. I really appreciated that, especially finding out I had nodules in different places.

Reviewed on Mar 27, 2019

Dr. Lu took time to explain possible diagnosis as well as very thoroughly evaluating my symptoms.

Reviewed on Feb 6, 2019

doctor didn't address the main reason I was there. was more worried about giving holistic treatment for pain I wasn't so concerned with, and ordering unnecessary tests. I was told all test must be done at Cleveland clinic when I live 4 hours away.

Reviewed on Jan 17, 2019

I was very impressed bynDr Lu's willingness to fully explain what show was doing each step of the way. She arranged an immediate appointment with a colleague in another department (Dr Martin) and collaborated with him on my care. Shw followed with me up the next day. Great service!
