About Stephen Ellis, MD

Stephen G. Ellis, MD, is a staff cardiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He also is Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Cardiovascular Genebank. His primary clinical interests are complex coronary interventions, novel treatments for patients who are unable to have surgery, minimally invasive treatments for patients with aortic valve disease and studies to better understand the basis and predict the occurrence of disease (genomics and proteomics).

Education and Training: Dr. Ellis received his medical degree from the University of California (at Los Angeles). He completed his internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, and fellowships at the Brigham and Women's Hospital (Cardiology) in Boston, Stanford University (Cardiology) in Stanford, CA, and Emory University (Angioplasty) in Atlanta, GA. He has done additional work in Molecular Biology at Pennsylvania State University.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Ellis serves on the editorial boards for numerous publications, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology American Journal of Cardiology, Circulation and the American Heart Journal. He has authored and co-authored more than 700 papers on interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease for numerous scientific journals. Dr. Ellis also served as the principal investigator for many national and international clinical studies that have changed the approach to treatment of patients with coronary artery disease. These include the RESCUE I trial, GUSTO IIb PTCA study, TAXUS IV and V trials ,the FINESSE trial and the ABSORB III and IV trials.

My appointment was with Dr. Stephen G. Ellis, M.D., a Senior Cardiologist at Cleveland Clinic. He was was a very genial, very kind and very easy to talk to. He went through my previous treatment plans with another Cleveland Clinic Cardiologist (Dr. Russell Raymond) who has since retired. Dr. Ellis very patiently and diligently listened to my narration of health issues and the problems that I have been currently experiencing. Dr. Ellis Ellis examined me very thoroughly and proceeded to explain to me the treatment plan, the medications he was going to prescribe for the treatment and suggested for me to have follow-up visit with him In the next 4 to 6 weeks.Accordingly, a follow-up visit with Dr. Ellis has been scheduled for Aug 3, 2022.Dr. Stephen Ellis M.D. Is one of the best doctors that I have ever met and I consider myself as being very lucky and fortunate to be under his care.
