Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 2/5/2019, Dr. Walsh has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Matthew Walsh is an excellent physician and has a dry sense of wit that is appreciated. I always look forward to seeing him and know whatever I encounter, he has the capacity and experience to remedy it.

Dr. Walsh appears to highly qualified to treat patients with pancreatic cancer, but not with benign tumors. The areas the require improvement includes the number of medical providers (i.e. assistants, other doctors that he works directly with) patients encounter prior to meeting with Dr. Walsh, his ability to explain patient's concern in great detail. During my visit, it appeared to be rushed after waiting for almost an hour to see him. I have a rare condition that may not be cancerous but is diagnosed as a tumor. He didn't seem interested in explaining the treatment options in great detail.

I am at ease with Dr. Walsh. He has a very gentlemanly courtesy that I appreciate. I believe I would not be on this earth had it not been for his surgical talent. How could I not admire him?

Dr. Walsh listened to and addressed my concerns. He included my husband in the conversation about my health options. He had reviewed my records and was prepared to share and explain treatment options. He has a way of making one feel at ease even when dealing with a stressful and complicated health situation. His confidence and expertise give me confidence that I haven't experienced at other institutions. I am grateful for Cleveland Clinic and the care I am receiving.

Due to the type of patients Dr. Walsh sees I do not mind the wait time. I do feel once you are in the exam room the medical student or nurse assistant should check in every 30 minutes so you know there is an additional wait time required.

I felt that Dr. Welch didn't see the concern for my health as I do. I felt that he didn't have any bed side manor. I have been through a lot medical wise, and I have learned that I am the only advocate for my life and body, as much as scared I have been through, and still facing it, then to hear that it could be all in my head from the trama upset me more, I hope that more test are ran to be 100% sure
