Dear Imaging Institute Alumni and Staff,

Welcome to our webpage. As always, we appreciate this opportunity to reconnect with you.

We are delighted to announce that Michael Modic, MD (DR’78, NR’79), received the 2014 Cleveland Clinic Distinguished Alumnus Award. Dr. Modic is chairman, Neurological Institute and chief emerging business officer at Cleveland Clinic. Congratulations to Dr. Modic for his many years of exceptional achievements, leadership and contributions to the community.

We’d also like to congratulate our imaging fellow Ajit Goenka, MD, for receiving the prestigious 2014 Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award from the RSNA for the second time in three years!

In 2013 the American Roentgen Ray Society recognized Dr. Goenka’s research on MDCT angiography in transcatheter aortic valve replacement. He also received the Cum Laude Award from the Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance in 2012 for using MDCT to scan simulated low-contrast liver lesions. We are proud of his accomplishments, and indeed those of all of our researchers.

Congratulations to the members of the 2015 class, who all passed their boards! As part of the curriculum changes adopted by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, third-year residents now take a core exam after 36 months of training and a final certifying exam 15 months after completing their residency. Fourth-year residents participate in two areas of concentration, each for three months, and, with faculty oversight, essentially design their own curriculum. Cleveland Clinic has embarked on the Power of Every One campaign, seeking support to transform patient care, promote health, advance research and innovation, train caregivers, and revitalize the system’s facilities with new or renovated buildings for cancer, neurology, education and regional care. Titled the Power of Every One to signify the importance and impact of every gift, the campaign will culminate with the institution’s 100th anniversary in 2021. All alumni and staff will be contacted about this very important philanthropic initiative.

The recognition of the Imaging Institute’s research and other news, including Cleveland Clinic being ranked the top hospital in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery for the 20th consecutive year, are featured in the Q3/Q4 2014 issue of Radiology Alumni Connection:
