SETMELANOTIDE (SET mel AN oh tide) is a melanocortin 4 agonist. It is used for weight control in patients with Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), proopiomelanocortin (POMC), proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 (PCSK1), or leptin receptor (LEPR) deficiency.

This drug is injected under the skin. You will be taught how to prepare and give it. Take it as directed on the prescription label at the same time every day. Keep taking it unless your health care provider tells you to stop.
It is important that you put your used needles and syringes in a special sharps container. Do not put them in a trash can. If you do not have a sharps container, call your pharmacist or health care provider to get one.
Talk to your health care provider about the use of this drug in children. While it may be prescribed for children as young as 6 years for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

If you miss a dose, skip it. Take your next dose at the normal time. Do not take extra or 2 doses at the same time to make up for the missed dose.
Interactions are not expected.

Store unopened vials in a refrigerator or at room temperature between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F).
