Levocabastine eye suspension

What is this medication?

LEVOCABASTINE (lee voe KAB as teen) is an antihistamine eye drop. It is used to reduce itchy eyes caused by allergies.

This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

What should I tell my care team before I take this medication?

They need to know if you have any of the following conditions:

• wear soft contact lenses
• an unusual or allergic reaction to levocabastine, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding

How should I use this medication?

This medicine is only for use in the eye. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Wash hands before and after use. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger to form a pouch. Try not to touch the tip of the dropper to your eye, fingertips, or any other surface. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops (usually 1 drop) into the pouch. Close the eye gently to spread the drops. Your vision may blur for a few minutes. Use your medicine at regular intervals. Do not use it more often than directed.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

What may interact with this medication?

Interactions are not expected. Do not use any other eye products without asking your doctor or health care professional.

What should I watch for while using this medication?

Tell your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not start to get better within 2 or 3 days or if they get worse.

Report any serious side effects right away. Stop using this medicine if your eyes get swollen, painful, or have a discharge, and see your doctor or health care professional as soon as you can.

Be careful not to touch the tip of the dispensing container onto the eye, or any other surface. Serious eye infections can result from contamination of eye drops.

Do not wear soft contact lenses while using this medicine.

Do not use if the suspension has discolored.

What side effects may I notice from receiving this medication?

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:

• skin rash, hives, or itching
• swelling of the lips, tongue or face

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):

• burning, discomfort, stinging, or tearing immediately after use
• eyelid swelling or eye dryness
• cough or dry mouth
• drowsiness or headache
• nausea

Where should I keep my medication?

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed when not in use. Protect from light. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
