Description
We invite you to take part in a research study because you are a cognitively normal adult between the ages of 60-80 years old. By “cognitively normal”, we mean you have not been diagnosed with a disorder that affects your memory or thinking skills such as dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The purpose of this study is to look at activation patterns in the brain while completing spatial/object recognition tasks in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. “Activation patterns” refers to the way brain cells become active as you try to recall memories. This information will help us identify patterns so researchers can see if they are associated with risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease.
You will be asked to complete a MRI scan. While in the MRI scanner, you will look at a screen and perform memory tasks. You will also complete a series of thinking and memory tasks on paper and an iPad. These tests will be completed in a normal exam room. You will also be asked to have a blood draw as part of the study. Your participation in the research will last a maximum of 4.5 hours. This is a one-time visit.
