The Only Single Port Laparoscopic Program in Ohio for Suspected Pelvic Masses

The section of Gynecologic Oncology has the only Single Port Laparoscopic Program in Ohio for suspected pelvic masses, prophylactic salpingo-oophorectomies "removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes" for patients with BRCA1/2 as well as early endometrial cancers. Using this innovative approach surgeons are able to performed laparoscopic/robotic surgery through a single incision, which improves patient recovery. Dr. Pedro Escobar, Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotics in the section of gynecologic oncology is pleased to announce the availability of this program for selected patients "preliminary results are favorable and encouraging."

International Physician Conference

Dr. Elliot Philipson, Vice-Chair of The OB/GYN & Women's Health Institute at Cleveland Clinic recently organized an Obstetrics and Gynecology conference with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. The pope was a featured guest in the audience who not only blessed the Central Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology but also the team from Cleveland, Ohio in front of St. Peters at the Vatican. Dr. Tommaso Falcone, Institute Chairman, and Dr. Maria Fidela Paraiso of The Ob/Gyn Women's Health Institute also attended the conference and gave lectures. Doctors from all over the country were in attendance as well.
