Overview
Cleveland Clinic’s Board of Governors has responsibility for standards of medical care and managing and administering the day-to-day medical and surgical activities of Cleveland Clinic, subject to policies established by Cleveland Clinic’s Board of Directors.
The Board of Governors also oversees the integration of research and education with other services provided by Cleveland Clinic, and, subject to the concurrence of the Board of Directors, is responsible for the appointment, promotion and termination of members of the Professional Staff in cooperation with Institute and Department Chairs.
The Board of Governors is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer and President and is comprised of physician leaders elected by their peers and certain officers and key administrative personnel. The Board of Governors annually recommends certain representatives of the Professional Staff for election to the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees.
