About Kim L. Stearns, MD

Kim L. Stearns M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He specializes in Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstruction. Dr. Stearns is a 1985 graduate of Northeast Ohio Medical University. He has been employed by the Cleveland Clinic since 2006. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Stearns is a Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the Cleveland Indians and Head Team Physician for the Lake County Captains. He is a consultant for the World Wrestling Entertainment, Cleveland Playhouse, Live Nation Entertainment and the Rockettes. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anatomy at Northeast Ohio Medical University as well as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

When I have an appointment to see Dr Stearns I know ahead that I may need to wait because of over runs. I know that is because he takes the time make sure all the patients questions are answered. I am comfortable with this because he will do the same for me.

Dr. Stearns is a good surgeon. However, he did not palpate or examine my bilateral knee replacements until the third appointment, when I asked him to examine the large bump of scar tissue above kneecap. I told him the left knee buckles on me and I have pain especially descending stairs. Do not want to go back at 6 month checkup

When asked by the nurse if I was taking any medication for pain in my knees, I said no, the pain was not bad enough for me to take any pain reliever. The doctor then prescribed prescription pain medication, did not discuss possible alternatives such as physical therapy, exercise, etc

I had a book to read and was very comfortable in waiting room and in exam room.. not a long wait. Would rather wait before seeing doctor and have him take his time with me during exam rather than rush to get me in and out...... his TIME WITH ME is what is important and Dr. Stearns makes me feel that he is attentive to me in the exam.

care provider did three things to examine me. Hands up, arms to to side and push out on his hands. He would not stop to listen to me, kept on talking and I did not get the opportunity to ask my questions. He basically recommended surgery in about 3-4 min. exam
