Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 10/23/2020, Dr. Costin, III has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr Costin did a good job, nurses were nice, financial dept was horrible. This took way to long and to many phone calls to get this done.

Doctor Costin Always explains things, procedures and stops to make sure you understand everything. He listens very well and always asks in you have any questions. I recommend him and all my clinic doctors to others stating they are the BEST. This will be my 3rd procedure with him as my doctor. That alone should tell you something !!

Both the PA and physician had reviewed my chart and it was obvious that they knew what was going on with me. I find this comforting. Also, both explained the surgery, options and answered any questions that I had.

He ordered an imaging test with no explanation as to what he was trying to find. Sent me into the breast imaging center at FGH after I told him that I had just had an extensive mammogram of that breast/axilla and had been cleared. This was an entirely different issue. He didn't listen to me. When I got to the breast imaging center, the technician asked me what I was doing back there. I was cleared, again, of anything involving my breast/lymph nodes and was sent home. Dr. Costin had no concern for me going forward and communicated through MyChart 5-7 days after my imaging. He wasted my time and money by repeating a test that I clearly did not need. I provided him with more than enough information at my visit to avoid this.
