Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 4/7/2017, Dr. Hong has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. I absolutely love Dr. Hong. She was pleasant, detailed, and made me feel as if I were a part of my treatment plan not just being told what to do.

Dr. Hong is a fantastic doctor in so many ways. She has taken excellent care of my child and his ongoing allergy issues, and she has a genuine interest in him as a person. She shows compassion and knowledge, which is such an amazing combination for a doctor. We have referred many families to her, and they all absolutely love her as a doctor.

Dr. Hong thought I might benefit from a different medication and during the exam she noticed I had Thrush, so we began to treat me for that. Sandra was very informative and instructed me on the correct way to rinse out my mouth from one of the medications, which has really helped. When I told her about my sinus issue she instructed me on how to use a nettie pot to clear out my sinus cavity. It's a wonderful device, I am so thankful she provided me with that information.

Dr. Hong took a comprehensive look at my health challenges and opened up the potential for future joint surgery. The goal of the orthopedic surgeons was to keep me out of the OR due to my allergies to almost all antibiotics. Dr. Hong reviewed my history, noted that I had not had any antibiotics for many years, and suggested testing for some of them as a means to giving other physicians options for using antibiotics with surgery. Recent testing of penicillin showed no reaction. The plan is test additional antibiotics to hopefully find a second that can be used. Recently knee pain has greatly reduced my mobility and negatively impacted my quality of life. Avoiding joint replacement for many years was a good thing. But now the potential for a more definitive treatment has been restored. I am grateful to Dr. Hong for her thoughtful analysis of my medical issues, the impact of limited mobility on the quality of my life, and her providing an alternative path forward. Dr. Hong is clearly one of CCHS' finest!
