Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 11/22/2022, Dr. Stevens has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. This was the first time I had seen Dr Stevens and she was very thorough with her questions about my past care and what was going on with my diabetes at the time and what I was looking for and she and I came to agreements on how we would deal with my diabetes going forward and she ordered the Libre 3 for me and she made a change in minor change in the medication that seems to be doing very well for me and I'm very happy with my visit

I had a very good experience with Dr. Mariam Stevens. Dr. Stevens spent a lot of time on my first visit with her listening to me & asking me questions about my concerns & my health. Dr. Stevens is a very friendly, respectful, courteous, & caring doctor who takes time listening to her patients, takes a lot of notes, and is thoroughly concerned about the well being of her patients.Dr. Steven took her time with me & didn't rush me & spent over an hour with me talking to me & all the things that concern me.Dr. Stevens is a wonderful, caring, kind & loving doctor & I am glad that my PCP recommended me to her.Dr. Stevens is the best endocrinologist that I have ever had & I hope that she never leaves the Cleveland Clinic practice & that I will have her for my endo doctor for a long time & many, many years to come. I will recommend Dr. Stevens to my family, friends & anyone who is looking for a great endo doctor & who has a wonderful personality & disposition.
