During my 31 years at the Cleveland Clinic my role has focused on helping individuals with chronic pain, as well as acute chronic pain. I function as an interdisciplinary team member in the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program, which treats individuals with chronic pain, addiction and psychosocial issues. In the outpatient clinic, I see individuals for initial evaluations, provide medication management and psychotherapy, and follow-up to assess treatment outcomes. I educate nurses, medical students, residents, and fellows on pain management. I am the coordinator of the Center for Neurological Restoration advanced practice clinicians, facilitate various Foundation of Healthcare Communication courses, and lecture at Case Western Reserve University Frances Payton Bolton School of Nursing. In the past I have managed the inpatient acute/chronic pain hospital consult-service. I am a board member for the American Chronic Pain Association.

Joanne is the consummate professional. She has taken care of my chronic pain for over 20 years. She is so skilled, kind, firm and compassionate. She and Dr Tanka recently guided me through one of the most challenging pain issues in the last 29 years. Thank you!

This was my first visit with Joanne since my old provider, Mary Patterson, retired. I was a little hesitant on seeing her but was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked her.

She was very matter of fact, no empathy what so ever, I don't feel like she enjoy her job and can effectively assist patients she seem to be worn out

Joanne Schneider lacks compassion and care. She is cold hearted and condescending. Biased of the Information I was sharing with her. NEVER have I been left in tears by a Cleveland Clinic provider. She did not fully listen to what I had to say until I was in tears telling her how I felt by her behavior and actions. For being a first time patient of hers, she definitely took the wrong avenues. I felt uncomfortable and belittled. No one should feel that way, especially coming from a "medical professional". Regardless of her years in practice, seems as if she may need some refresher courses on bed side manner and compassion.
