Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 11/17/2019, Dr. Lever has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. This appointment was my first one with Dr. Lever and he was super. He took the time to listen to me, explain what may be occurring and told me I needed a procedure to access my condition. Then in the same day, because he knew I had flown in for this appointment, he was able to schedule the procedure later that day. He is an excellent doctor with a wonderful bedside manner.

It was due to Dr. Lever's oversight that the above was done well.

Dr. Lever is outstanding as a provider and human being. I came under his care after making no progress with another Gastroenterology physician who seemed not interested in finding the root cause of my problems. Mr. Lever listened carefully to my comments and prescribed those tests/procedures and medications which helped us too drill down to the cause of my extreme discomfort. He carefully monitored my case and was always available either himself or through his nurse assistant.I have a great deal more to say about Dr. Lever and would prefer a telephone conversation to discuss why I think he is excellent, one of the best providers I have encountered at the Clinic.

Dr. Lever thoroughly reviewed the hospital records, answered my questions, reassured me about my condition, and ordered the CT enterography that had been recommended by the surgeon during my hospital stay. He said someone from the office would call me the next day to schedule the procedure. (No one called, but I was able to schedule the procedure by calling Central Scheduling.) I also appreciated the thorough notes from Dr. Lever available through MyChart.
