Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 2/5/2018, Dr. Klein has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. I have been seeing Doctor Klein for over 40 years so our relationship is excellent and based on respect and care for each other as people as well as patient/doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Klein for many years. He excellent, and I wouldn't consider seeing another OB/GYN.

I wanted an opportunity to advise how grateful I was for the opportunity to be treated by Dr. Steven M Klein. His immediate attention to my situation, his compassion and caring was unparalleled. In an otherwise frightening moment in time, his patience and medical advise was welcomed. I felt he took the extra step to carefully review reports and collaborate with colleagues to reach a general consensus. Because of this, I have decided to switch to him as my permanent gynecologist. Which frankly is quite a statement as I live in another state. I am willing to travel yearly to Ohio, in order to have him as my physician.

Dr. Klein was rude, dismissive and he spoke to me the way that a parent scolds a child. Furthermore, he chastised me for following a medical regimen that was prescribed by a prior practitioner. (Stating that because I had taken my medicine, the medication could possibly interfere with his diagnosis. While I understood his concern, I did not like the way he informed me--it was rude.) Also, it did not appear that Dr. Klein had reviewed my chart or discussed my information with his nurse before entering the room. I left his office feeling demeaned, embarrassed and that I had wasted my time visiting with him. To make matters worse, the medicine he prescribed was the EXACT same medication I am currently taking (and that I TOLD him I was taking). I regret not waiting to visit the practitioner that was recommended. Once I have visited with the specialist he recommended, I will not be utilizing this hospital organization for future services unless I have no other choice.
