About Holly L. Thacker, MD

Holly L. Thacker MD, FACP, director of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Specialized Women’s Health and Professor, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. She published her second women’s health book “Cleveland Clinic Guide to Menopause.”  Dr. Thacker is the Executive Director of national Speaking of Women's Health and directs the digital platform www.speakingofwomenshealth.com and directs CustomFit Physicals for women.

She was honored by the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) and the Journal of Women’s Health with the "Lila Wallis Women’s Health Award" in recognition of Dr. Thacker’s lifetime achievements, accomplishments, motivation, mentorship, energy and enthusiasm for women’s health, education, and research during the AMWA annual meeting and Women’s Health 2009: The 17th Annual Congress, in Williamsburg, VA.

In the Center for Specialized Women’s Health, we pursue leading edge and interdisciplinary therapies for women with a focus on menopausal and hormone risk assessment and therapies. We have started CustomFit Physicals for women to provide a uniquely personalized healthcare service that combines convenience and comprehensiveness in a one day visit with the service of a nurse navigator.  In addition, there are several new FDA approved pelvic floor stimulators that are available for women with urine leakage and pelvic muscle weakness as well as fecal incontinence and mild degrees of pelvic organ prolapse. These new pelvic floor stimulation devices are custom-fit and use stimulation to strengthen pelvic floor muscles and inhibit overactive bladder muscles while giving visual biofeedback and audible guidance. Precise adjustments can be made to ensure effective muscle training. Some women, who have only stress urinary leakage, and/or are 6 weeks post partum from vaginal delivery, may need simpler devices and all therapies can be done in the comfort and privacy of ones home. These devices can compliment, or in many cases be used instead of surgery or medications.

I was surprised when Dr. Thacker gave me very positive bone density comparisons from 2 year scan to current scan. Explained results thoroughly and told me I could go to primary physician and could come back in 2 years to see her instead of annually. I really respect her innovative treatment of my osteoporosis to gain back bone density and her concern that I maintain my gains and prescription and vitamin dosages to accomplish that.

Reviewed on Nov 11, 2021

Dr. Cochrane was wonderful, patient and listened. Dr. Thacker I felt was in a rush to get through the routine questions and prescribe. Me, being new to this part of my life needed a little more patience and attention. I also felt she spoke down to the fellow regarding the fellow's diagnosis with me as well. I understand she is in demand but I left feeling confused.

Reviewed on Nov 2, 2021

Dr Thacker seemed rushed and I thought I was there for an exam and was told she doesn't do that. I got what I came fir you start back in hormones, but many ??? Left unanswered.

Reviewed on Oct 18, 2021

I think she was very good as a doctor she was concerned and knew exactly what she is doing ,only thing is I did not get to ask any questions because I think she is very busy and my appointment felt rushed . But I will definitely co.e back to her because she is very good at her research. I just hope next visit I get more time to ask questions to her.

Reviewed on Oct 11, 2021

I went in because I was confused about continuing medications or not. Please tell Dr Thacker that the information she shared with me was very helpful, she took away my worries, and she has made my life better. I plan to have follow-ups with telehealth.
