Experience: Dr. Kandala has performed thousands of minimally invasive procedures in his career to treat a wide spectrum of heart and vascular conditions, including atherectomy for complex CAD, renal artery stenting and denervation, treatment of pulmonary embolism and interventions for peripheral artery disease.
Dr. Kandala is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and echocardiography and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions.

Education: Dr. Kandala earned his medical degree from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, India, and a master’s in public health from the School of Public Health, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, Ala. He completed his internal medicine residency at Queens Hospital Center of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Jamaica, N.Y., followed by a research fellowship in cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University School of Medicine, Boston.
Dr. Kandala continued his clinical training with fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at Sarver Heart Center, University of Arizona, Tucson, Ariz. He worked in interventional cardiology for several years at hospitals in New York before coming to Cleveland for an interventional cardiology fellowship at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University.
He joined the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2025 from Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio, where he was a staff interventional cardiologist.
Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Kandala participated in research related to cardiac resynchronization during his fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. During his fellowship at Sarver Heart Center, he received an award for his research on using response to the Valsalva maneuver (a breathing exercise) in heart failure patients to predict their risk of hospitalization.
He has coauthored numerous scientific papers published in medical journals related to cardiac resynchronization outcomes for various types of patients, as well as published papers on treatments for PAD and heart failure.
