Biography

About Gloriamaria Gonzalez Garcia, MD

Dr. Gloria Gonzalez is a pediatric surgeon and transplant specialist, distinguished for her expertise in both surgical oncology and solid organ transplantation. She began her medical career at the University of Chile, where she earned her medical degree. Further honing her skills, Dr. Gonzalez completed a fellowship in solid organ transplant surgery at Las Condes Clinic in Santiago, Chile, followed by a surgical oncology fellowship at the prestigious St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As a committed member of the global medical community, Dr. Gonzalez is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and has held prominent leadership roles, currently serving as Past-President of the Chilean Pediatric Surgery Society (SChCP), President of CIPESUR and the Iberoamerican Association of Pediatric Surgery. Her influence extends internationally, as she is an active executive committee member of the International Society of Pediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO).

Dr. Gonzalez is also one of the directors of the Chilean Transplant Society and participates in several key transplant societies, The Transplantation Society, and the International Pediatric Transplant Association (SPLIT)

In her previous roles, Dr. Gonzalez served as the Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Hospital Luis Calvo Mackenna, where she led the hospital's surgical oncology and solid organ transplant programs. She also contributes to academia as an assistant professor at the Medicine Faculty, University of Chile. Her scholarly contributions include several publications in respected medical journals and lectures in international meetings.

Currently holds the position of Visiting Professor at Lerner College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University and serves as a pediatric surgeon at Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. These roles allow her to share her expertise with a new generation of medical professionals and contribute to cutting-edge pediatric care.
