Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 1/2/2024, Dr. Schulz has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

Reviewed on Nov 1, 2024

Dr Schulz listened to all of my questions, ridiculous or not, with patience and answered all of them. This followed through into my surgery day when he was also calm, patient and kind.

Reviewed on Oct 25, 2024

Dr. Steven Schulz was MUCH better than Dr. Michael Valente; he actually came to see me post surgery to check in and let me know how the surgery went.

Reviewed on Oct 21, 2024

Dr. Schultz staff are very friendly and look for the appointment times that are best for me.

Reviewed on Oct 21, 2024

They listen and after discussing my care asked if I had any other questions. I wasn't never rushed.

Reviewed on Oct 4, 2024

I know even as a nurse beside being a patient this time that Dr. Shultz is super busy especially because he is that good and he spends just enough time in conversation when I need it but I am knowledgeable and that's when if he doesn't have time his staff including nurse practitioner will answer what is needed and appreciate all of his team! And I wouldn't want it any other way, I wanted the best team and highly feel I recieved it, and if that means less talking and explaining, I will take it, but I still highly feel they made all time I needed which comes from all team!!

Reviewed on Sep 6, 2024

I am very pleased with Dr. Schulz. He answered all my questions and explained all my options to me. He informed me of things that other Dr.'s failed to tell me. He was patient with me and made sure I understood everything he told me. I would definitely recommend him.

Dr. Schulz is the best. Courteous, informative and you can tell he cares!

Reviewed on Apr 26, 2024

Dr. Schulz was very kind, attentive, and informative throughout the visit. He took time to listen to me, check out my daughter's burn, and make a plan for her care. He was very gentle and good with her (she is only 1.5) for not being a pediatric provider.
