Biography

About Charles Cogan, MD

Charlie Cogan, MD is an orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow surgeon in the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at the Cleveland Clinic.

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Dr. Cogan completed his undergraduate and medical school degrees at Northwestern University in the Honors Program in Medical Education. He then went on to the University of California, San Francisco, where he completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. Following residency, Dr. Cogan completed his fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was been ever since.

Dr. Cogan's interests in shoulder and elbow surgery include primary and revision joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, rotator cuff repair, tendon repair, and fracture care. He is also involved in medical education with the Cleveland Clinic residency program and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. His interests in research have led to numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and regional and national presentations in the field of shoulder and elbow.

In his free time, Dr. Cogan enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, getting into the great outdoors, and fishing for Lake Erie steelhead.

Dr Cogan is very pleasant and good listener. He listened to my worries and addressed them professionally. He gave me options for treatment and advised me on what best would work. We need more doctors like him as he made me feel comfortable and less anxious.
