About Agostina Fava, MD

Agostina Fava, MD, is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. She sees patients at Richard E. Jacobs Health Center, Lorain Family Health Center and Fairview Hospital.

Specialty Interests: Valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, thoracic aortic aneurysm, women’s heart disease, pericardial diseases, infiltrative heart diseases, and advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging

Experience: Dr. Fava is experienced in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of heart, coronary and valve diseases. She has interpreted thousands of cardiovascular imaging studies, including Doppler and 3-D echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, myocardial perfusion studies, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography.

Education: Dr. Fava earned her medical degree from Favaloro University School of Medicine, Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a residency in internal medicine at Hospital Cosme Argerich, she completed a cardiovascular medicine fellowship followed by an advanced echocardiography fellowship at Favaloro Foundation, all in Buenos Aires. She continued her training in advanced cardiac imaging including cardiac CT and MRI through the Argentinean Society of Cardiology with clinical experience at Hospital Clinico San Carlos, Madrid. She completed her training at Cleveland Clinic with fellowships in cardiac imaging research and advanced cardiovascular imaging.

Dr. Fava was named to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2023 after completing her cardiovascular imaging fellowship.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Fava’s research focus is the clinical application of cardiovascular imaging, particularly multimodality imaging. She has coauthored papers published in leading medical journals, including New England Journal of Medicine and Journal of the America College of Cardiology Imaging, and has made research presentations at medical conferences in the United States and Europe.

About Dr. Fava: “My main motivation as a cardiologist with imaging training is to understand patients’ needs and integrate their symptoms with their imaging results to provide them with the best personalized care.
