Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 7/3/2024, Dr. Kim has reported the financial relationships with the companies listed below. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. She was very good.

Dr. Kim was excellent and saw me because I was sick with a very bad sore throat and not because she is only a "wellness" doctor like most of the internists are and you can never get an appt with your internist when you are sick. You are told to go to urgent care or the emergency room. She immediately handled a sick patient, like a doctor should.

This was my second visit with Dr. Kim, so we were still relatively unacquainted. After this appointment I felt very good about our relationship. Dr. Kim spent a lot of time asking me about my health history, family history, etc and shared the forms on the computer screen with me to make sure that I saw and agreed with what was in my records. She was happy to recommend specialist visits for certain concerns and prescribe medications and therapies that I needed.

Reviewed on Dec 8, 2023
Dr. Kim listened to my concerns and addressed them all. She asked me very specific follow-up questions which let me know that she was actually listening and I felt a part of my treatment. She trusted that I knew what was going on with my body. She didn't rush me, which is why I left UH - my doctor would have one foot out the door while I still had questions and concerns. Dr. Kim is nothing like that. The first time I saw her, I had to wait almost 30 minutes - normally that would upset me, but I realized she was taking time with a patient and I want the same for myself - which she has given me.
