About Saberio Lo Presti Vega, MD

Saberio Lo Presti, MD, is a staff cardiologist in The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Main Campus.

Specialty Interests: Multimodality imaging in complex disease processes, coronary computed tomography (CT) as an alternative to diagnostic invasive angiography, novel software/artificial intelligence for coronary artery disease characterization, development of new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies, pericardial syndromes, aortic disease, valvular heart disease

Experience: Dr. Lo Presti is a noninvasive cardiologist with expertise in diagnosing and managing heart and valve disease using the latest advanced cardiac imaging technologies. He analyzes more than 1,000 transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), around 1,000 cardiovascular CTs and 200 cardiac MRIs annually, and performs 200 transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) per year. He also analyzes more than 500 cardiac nuclear studies a year, including single-photon emission CT (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET)-CT for assessment of coronary disease, as well as cardiac amyloidosis scans and inflammatory PET-CTs for diagnosis of conditions such as sarcoidosis.

Education: Dr. Lo Presti is a summa cum laude graduate of Universidad de Los Andes School of Medicine, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, finishing first in his class. He completed his internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, Fl, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He continued his training as a cardiology fellow in the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and completed his specialty training with an advanced cardiac imaging fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Lo Presti was named to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2022 on completion of his imaging fellowship.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Lo Presti is an active researcher, dedicated to advancing cardiac imaging to improve quality, speed and accuracy of diagnosis. He has coauthored numerous research papers published in leading cardiology and imaging journals and made presentations at significant national medical meetings.

As a resident, Dr. Lo Presti was part of a team that developed the Peguero-Lo Presti echocardiographic criteria for the diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy, published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC). In 2023 he was lead author on another paper published in JACC that demonstrated the diagnostic utility of cardiac MR to in myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA).

I think that Dr. Lo Presti deserves 5's in all categories. I only put a four above because obviously in-person is always better than video. However, Dr. Lo Presti is in Cleveland, and I'm in Oregon so a video conference is perfect. I appreciate his time and effort as well as his expertise and his willingness to work with me. Thank you!
