Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 9/11/2024, Dr. Holmes has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

Doctor Holmes was thorough and listened yo my concerns.

Reviewed on Aug 7, 2024

Dr. Megan Holmes did not knock when coming into the exam room and was very short with me during our initial conversation. While doing the eye exam if I asked to repeat a part of the assessment (when they ask if lens1 or 2 is better when checking each eye) she would let out a sign which made me feel like I was an annoyance to her. After the exam she told me I needed another test to check my corneas (unsure what the test was) and she did not explain the test or why it was indicated. I have a follow up appointment with her but after that appointment I do not wish to be seen by her again.

It was extremely crowed as usual !! It took us 2 1/2 hours to get in ., you need to build a new wing and do something since we moved here 8 years ago the population has almost doubled in Avon Laje and Avon and I don't care when we come the wait is really terrible!! Out Dr was very good and took really good care of my granddaughter and took extra care that she made sure all the X-rays were taken !! It is not there fairly they ate just responsible for too many patients!!!

Provider made me feel like my appointment was a waste of her time. I did not feel heard, and when I did share my concern, provider remained quiet and did not offer feedback. I could not wait to get out of there.

Reviewed on Mar 8, 2024

I made my own appointment on my chart. Hold times on the phone are excessive when trying to call anywhere in Cleveland Clinic. The Dr. Was very nice and efficient. The lady who helped me pick out my bifocals was wonderful and so kind and helpful.

Reviewed on Feb 23, 2024

My eye exam showed different vision strength and yet she recommended me to get over the counter glasses instead of writing me the prescription.

Reviewed on Feb 19, 2024

She was rude, blunt, and did not seem to care about my wanting to get well. I felt as though she slapped the easiest answer onto my problems and moved on. She could not be more careless, and showed great lack of empathy. Horrible! I will never go back to see Megan Holmes again. The rest of the staff was fine. She was gosh awful.
