Biography

About Nicholas Scarcella, MD

Nicholas Scarcella, MD is an orthopaedic surgeon in the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. 

Dr. Scarcella specializes in hip and knee surgery. Specifically around the knee, he performs partial and total knee replacement as well as complex and revision arthroplasty. Similarly, he performs both anterior-based hip replacement surgery and posterior, as well as complex and revision hip arthroplasty. He also uses robotic-assisted techniques for both hip and knee surgery. 

Dr. Scarcella is a Northeast Ohio native, having grown up in Strongsville and graduated from Padua High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into theDayton C Miller Honor’s Society for Baldwin Wallace University and went on to graduate medical school from Case Western Reserve University.

He completed residency locally at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was selected for the AOA C. McCollister Evarts Resident Leadership Forum as a resident. In addition, he was voted Chief Resident of the Year for 2021-2022. He also participated in multiple research projects in residency, completing several publications. He then went on to do his fellowship in adult reconstruction/complex total joints at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Scarcella continues to be active academically, contributing to the residency education and participating in ongoing research efforts. He is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

He is excited to be serving his hometown community. He will be seeing patients and operating both at Medina Hospital and at Main Campus.
