Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

Dr. Kahn is very patient and informative. She listens to concerns and explains suggested options for treatment in a clear and detailed manner.

Originally (March 26th), Dr. Khan and I spoke on the phone and agreed to an appointment on Tuesday, May 21. When I checked My Chart on May 20th, I realized that Dr. Khan had not scheduled the appointment as we had agreed. Fortunately, the person I called at the Cleveland Clinic was able to help me get an appointment for May 29th (only 8 days later).

Reviewed on May 29, 2024

The doctor was 27 minutes late for our appointment. We drove for two hours that morning to get to the clinic and we were on time. Nearly 10 months ago (10-10-23), Dr. Khan discussed the possibility of an infusion therapy for slowing the progression of my Alzheimer's disease. We completed the necessary MRI and blood tests that Dr. Khan asked for but never heard back from her office. Finally at the end of the year (12-27-23), I was able to reach someone in her office and demand an appointment to follow up and discuss my test results and this infusion therapy. My follow-up appointment didn't take place until early March, 2024, and a cognitive test was administered later at the Mellen Center (3-22-24).At my most recent appointment on May 29th, Dr. Khan explained that I will not be considered as a candidate for infusion therapy, and implied that it is not a cure anyway so "I don't want patients to get their hopes up". Dr. Khan explained that infusion therapy is best for patients who are in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Could that have been 10 months ago when this treatment option was first discussed?? How this case was handled by the Cleveland Clinic has been very distressing.

Dr. Khan recommended that we consult with a social worker to help us deal with the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. A social worker called my husband's phone shortly after my appointment. He asked her to call the next morning (5-30-24), as he was driving in traffic on our way back to Toledo and didn't feel comfortable talking on the phone. To date (6-4-24), there has been no callback.

We had trouble with technology on our scheduled appointment. Not sure what happened. We've used ZOOM many times and had updated program as Instructed. We were able to schedule for the next day and the technology was perfect. Dr. Khan was very patient as we tried together to make it work.

Dr. Khan truly cares about me as a person and a patient. She listened carefully to my explanation as to why I had made the appointment. She was thoughtful, considerate, and professional during the exam. She said she was going to have other colleagues look my MRI scans, and she was good to her word and did that promptly. Her promptness led to a quick appointment with the appropriate medical professional for the next level in my care. I am most grateful for that. I asked a question via My Chart, and I received a prompt reply, and I continued to receive pertinent messages, so I knew what was happening while waiting for the next step. It was reassuring to know that Dr. Khan and the team were working on my behalf.

Dr Khan was wonderful

Excellent experience. Dr. Khan's thoroughness in the review of a blood panel drew attention to high levels of TSH. Dr Khan said that could be one of the issues affecting memory. We have an endocrinologist but somehow this issue wasn't being focused on and meds needed modification. Dr. Khan's attitude, attention, personality, medical knowledge and professionalism all point to exactly the type of medical experience we are seeking. It couldn't be easier to start addressing medical concerns over the video conference with Dr Khan and start the process of receiving better treatment than what's available at the local level here in Georgia.

Reviewed on Aug 23, 2023

The topic of this medical issue is delicate. Dr Khan was so respectful and calm in addressing the topic and making us feel comfortable we have found the right hospital with the right doctor. There's a certain level of excellence that we seek and so far it looks like we're finding It at Cleveland Clinic.

A first-class experience. The most valuable item one person can give to another is their time. Dr. Kahn's time is worth more than gold. She spoke to me and my family--for near an hour The knowledge she shared with me and my family was to the point and presented in layman's term.
