Dr. Patompong Ungprasert received medical degree from Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. After graduation, he spent one year serving as a family doctor in a rural hospital in central Thailand before deciding to pursue further medical education in the United States. He completed his internal medicine residency at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York and completed his rheumatology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During the course of his medical education, Dr. Ungprasert developed a special interest in epidemiology of rheumatic diseases and completed master degree in clinical and translation science from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Dr. Ungprasert sees all type of patients with autoimmune disease but his special expertise is in sarcoidosis. His current research is devoted to investigating the clinical characteristics and epidemiology of sarcoidosis. Over the past 5 year, he has published over 30 original articles describing this under-studied disease. Dr. Ungprasert’s team was the first group of investigators to describe a comprehensive modern epidemiology of sarcoidosis. His works were also the first to demonstrate that patients with sarcoidosis have an increased risk of several comorbidities, such as coronary artery disease, stroke, venous thromboembolism, infection and osteoporotic fracture. His observations were the crucial first step toward the understanding the need and comprehensive care of patients with this disease.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ungprasert is an avid runner who finishes at least one marathon every year. He is also a nature-lover with the goal to visit all national parks in the next 10 years (he visited 20 so far).

Did not listen to my concerns. I had skin rash, blood work, before coming to see him. He did nothing to progress the treatment or further the diagnosis. I now wait 2 to 3 months for what? Just get no better and do not understand what is happening to me. I need a doctor offering more tests for my concern, like lung and heart issues for what I am feeling.
