Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

Dr Veith did an exceptional job of explaining July's chest x-ray to me and offered some options for further testing

Dr. Veith is the the best doctor I have ever entrusted my care in. He listens, is thorough in examining the issues to address them and communicates the plan forward. I am so grateful for the care he and his amazing team have provided. It isn't easy to care from a patient from a distance and despite that they have still taken great care of me- thank you so much for all of your help!

Efficiency combined with expertise, the staff at all levels were able to coordinate with one another, acting like a fine machine in coming up with solutions to complex medical problems in a positive way. The organization is expertly run, I was able to get a treatment plan for a positive outcome for my problem in a few days that I was unable to get for nine years with other doctor consultants elsewhere. I will always recommend Cleveland Clinic as the number one hospital to treat a variety of diseases

Dr. Veith was an extraordinary care provider. He was systematic, worked assiduously to avoid bias, and asked me questions to get at the root of my problems that no other pulmonologist has bothered to ask me. Dr. Veith took my self-reported symptoms, and the descriptions of them he prompted me to provide, at face value, while other doctors have dismissed my concerns and discomfort. Instead, Dr. Veith used my knowledge of my own body to help him pinpoint what to evaluate. The doctor somehow managed to balance a scientific approach with empathy, while also continuously discussing with me his plan of treatment as a partner and co-decision-maker in my own care. I am thoroughly impressed by and confident in Dr. Veith. As a long-covid patient who has dealt with so much dismissal by doctors and medical gaslighting, this approach helped me regain trust in the medical system.
