Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 11/22/2019, Dr. Kirsch has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

my only thing on this appointment only. I came into go over blood test results that were supposed to have been gotten from university several months back. nothing was received. so I went in to see him. he looked for results nothing there. he rescheduled my spot for 3 months from now and told me he wanted me to get a new blood test. nothing was done but get my blood pressure which I can do at home. I figure I am going to be billed for this which I am not keen on. dr Kirsch is a great Dr. like him a lot. nothing personal but this visit to me was a waste of time and yet I am going to be charged for it

provider first said he would approve a scope to satisfy my suspicion then said he would not do so as it was not Gerd. he would refer me to have swallow test then return to him in 10 days. why return if I had no symptoms he saw he was more concerned how I came to be referred to him as he was new. I thought that very odd. he very quickly listened to my heart and lungs quickly touched my stomach and foot for swelling. this was done so quickly that I thought I might be on the show "punked". most bizarre appointment. I will not return and I have always loved and respected Cleveland Clinic .
