Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 1/1/2024, Dr. Lu has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. The technology was great. Her care as a professional physician was as always with her, poor. She has zero bedside manner , she could care less if you have any issues or concerns, she doesn't explain anything or even go over anything with you . Appointments with her are a total WASTE of my time and are there for her to earn a fee . I am sorry but she is a horrible doctor who doesn't care about her patients at all

Reviewed on Oct 12, 2023

Her communication is terrible. English is not the provider's first language. She doesn't make much of an attempt to communicate. It is extremely hard to converse with her. She's uninterested in explaining, discussing my blood work and condition, and listening to me. If I hadn't pressed my concerns about my blood work she would not have ordered a phlebotomy appointment to remove blood. She said it could help the liver enzymes. I don't remember the quantity of blood to ordered to be removed, but first she said twice the amount. First she wants to give me fluids directly after because I had dizziness last time I had blood removed. But cut the amount in half. This past time I had blood lab tests, and the time before, the results were bad. The first time I was not told what to do, when to make a. Appointment or with whom. No one from her office called to talk to go over lab results. I pressed the issue. I was told that I need to see my gastro office. Why did hematologist order blood lab tests if she doesn't follow up with the results? Why didn't anyone tell me to follow up with gastro. The second she ordered labs, the results were worse. Same thing happened . No one from her office called to discuss and advise. Nothing happened until I talked to a nurse Jennifer who works for Dr Sood. Sge helps patients with sp? cial needs to make sure they get the care and stay on track with treatment. Immediately after she contacted my hematologist, Dr Lu called me. Without going over the blood work. She asked what are my questions. I told her I don't have my chart pulled up to see the lab results I want to know why they are so abnormal and what am I supposed to do about it. All she told me was to contact the gastro doctor. It doesn't make sense. This gastro office has had a lot of turnover in doctors and I am not getting the care I need there either it has been going on for over a year.

Dr. Lu was excellent. She went over everything with me and knew right away I needed IV iron since I could not tolerate the pill form. The last hematologist I saw at summa just blew me off, so it was nice to be validated.

Reviewed on Aug 28, 2023

Dr. Lu improved things in a big way with the treatment after the last visit. I am at peace and happy she really cares and does her best to help keep me as healthy as possible. My other Physician's (of which I actually have quite a few unfortunately also are happy with her and almost each one has expressed that the need for Dr. Lu and her care impacts the care they provide quite significantly and knowing I am under her care takes worries off their minds bc several of specialists have seen with the peculiar hematologist who retired as well as the time prior to any hematologist what the consequences were of not having a hematologist I see every few months. Thank you to Dr. Lu and her entire staff!!!! I am beyond grateful I am happy and my other Physician's that she agreed to take me on as a patient months ago now when her colleague retired. I would be in a worse place in a number of areas not directly related tp hematology if it wasn't for her watchful eye and care. I consider myself tremendously lucky!!!!!!

Since I was there with no current problems or no active conditions affecting my health, there was no need to discuss any treatment. Upon entering the room, Dr. Lu congratulated me on coming up on my 10th year of being cancer free! She also noted that there had been a while since I had had a bone density, scan, and instructed reception to schedule me for one.
