Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 1/1/2024, Dr. Garg has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. When I was there, computers for the whole system were down, and Dr. Garg and his staff did a great job working without computers. Dr. Garg was already prepared with a printout of my health information he had already obtained days earlier.

The weather in Northeast Ohio prevented me from attending in person (Cold, windy with ice covered driveways, side walks and streets) the doctor's appointment T Dr. Garg's Office, so we moved it to a On - line Zoom Meeting! Without any difficulties his staff completed all the technical set -ups and Dr. Gard and I completed the appointment as if I was in his office!

Dr. Garg, in the field of Cardiology, is and outstanding Cleveland Clinic Doctor and my progress since my heart attack in 2021 is testimony In his abilities and skills to provide the type of medical treatment to bring the patient back to good health!

I kind of felt overwhelmed after my appointment. No kudos for anything I was doing right...maybe I am not doing anything right but got a lot of unattainable goals. Right out of a health magazine or something. I've been dealing with these issues for decades and believe I know if I couldn't do some of these things in my 20s-30s, I am unlikely to be able to do them in my 60s with arthritic knees, a dropped foot and balance issues. I've battled food issues my entire life...Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem & even gastric bypass! He might have said try to eat "more" healthy but the way he listed all the ways to improve my eating/cooking...I felt overwhelmed. Still do. I'm sure there are guidelines for doctors to give all the right instructions so you can cover your butt legally but that doesn't work for everyone. Sorry. It is just getting me worked up again.

Selfishness m have I had a physician so highly competent, depth of knowledge, ability to explain complex issues easily and respond to questions and concerns. He used his own experiences, examples from his practice and studies to provide clarity of diagnosis and alternative treatments. Had no hesitancy to spend required time to listen and respond, not making me feel rushed or unimportant.

Reviewed on Jan 9, 2024

Was impressed that physician and nurse took the time to aid in ensuring that a future appointment could be scheduled while on site (rather than leaving and trying to accomplish via phone later).

Reviewed on Jan 8, 2024

Dr. Garg gave me all the time I needed. He was very helpful in answering questions and explained everything. The technician who did my EKG was all business and seemed to be in a hurry. She was not personable. Saying a few kind words would help to relieve anxieties regarding procedures. She was informative and thorough, but she made me feel like I was just something on her list that she needed to get checked off and done with.

Reviewed on Dec 6, 2023

Dr. Garg was excellent, thorough, and courteous as were the nurse and staff.
