Rohit Moudgil, MD, PhD, is a cardiologist in the Section of Clinical Cardiology, Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic main campus.

Education: Dr. Moudgil holds a Bachelor’s of Science, a Master’s of Science in experimental biology, an MD and a PhD in physiology from the University of Alberta, Alberta, Canada. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, followed by a residency in cardiology combined with a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. After completion of these programs he served a postdoctoral fellowship in basic science research and a fellowship in clinical onco-cardiology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Dr. Moudgil was named to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2018.
Experience and Outcomes: The Cleveland Clinic Cardio-Oncology Center in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine annually treats thousands of patients undergoing cancer treatment who have heart disease or are at risk for treatment-related cardiac complications. The team includes specialists from the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute in cardiac imaging, heart failure, electrophysiology and cardiac surgery and the Taussig Cancer Institute oncologists. Team members work together to provide expertise in diagnostic testing, medical management and interventional and surgical procedures to help patients complete cancer treatment without developing cardiac damage.
Research and Publications: Dr. Moudgil’s research interests include cardiovascular complications of cancer therapy, heart failure, topoisomerase II beta in the heart and aging and inflammation of the heart. He has published nearly three dozen papers in peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals, including a dozen papers on cardiac complications related to cancer and cancer treatment. Dr. Moudgil also has co-authored numerous chapters in clinical handbooks and textbooks and presented on translational research in onco-cardiology at the 4th International Conference on Cancer and the Heart held at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also co-authored the Clinical Series in the Journal of American College of Cardiology for Best Practices in Diagnosis, Prevention, and Management in Cardiovascular Complications of Cancer Therapy This publication is meant for primary care physicians, cardiologists and oncologists as it outlines the diagnostic and treatment strategies to prevent and/or treat onco-cardiology/cardio-oncology patients.

Dr Moudgil was exceptional in his interaction and treatment during this visit. As this was an initial visit for an issue that caused some anxiety for me, Dr Moudgil was patient and very kind. I appreciated his willingness to take the time necessary to explain my initial diagnosis, and recommended treatment plan. I was appreciative, as well, of his expertise . Dr Moudgil was professional and courteous in every aspect of this visit.
