Bo Xu, MD, is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Imaging in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He has advanced subspecialty training in multimodality cardiovascular imaging. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic main campus.
Specialty Interests: Advanced cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel) imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; cardiomyopathy; diseases of the aorta; infiltrative cardiac disorders; ischemic heart disease; heart valve disease; heart disease and aging.
Education: Dr. Xu received his medical degree from the University of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, graduating as the top student in the St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Clinical School. He served his residency and advanced training in cardiology at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and MonashHeart, MonashHealth, Victoria, Australia, followed by a fellowship in non-invasive imaging at MonashHeart, MonashHealth. He joined the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2018 following completion of a further two-year fellowship in advanced cardiovascular imaging at Cleveland Clinic.
Experience and Outcomes: Cleveland Clinic's Section of Cardiovascular Imaging is one of the largest and most experienced in the country. Staff physicians read and interpret nearly 50,000 images every year to diagnose heart disease, plan optimal care for patients and help ensure treatment is complete. They also use these diagnostic studies to minimize complications during many types of catheter-based procedures and heart surgery.
Publications and Research: Dr. Xu has authored numerous research articles and research abstracts in peer-reviewed medical and cardiology journals. He has also co-authored book chapters for cardiology textbooks. Dr. Xu has presented his research findings at major national and international cardiology meetings, including the annual scientific sessions of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography and World Congress on Heart Disease. He has served as an invited faculty and member of the scientific advisory board for the International Academy of Cardiology.

Dr. Xu was both courteous and thorough. I was here for surgery so a bit anxious. He took me through the imaging information and I could tell he was very good at his profession. I see another cardiologist back home in SC who is good. But Dr. Xu did an excellent job. I hope to schedule with him at least once a year to review my current heart status. I believe it would be worth the trip for his professional opinion.

My experience with Dr Xu was excellent. He was prepared to discuss my existing medical condition and he had reviewed my previous medical exams and tests that were sent by my Illinois Cardiologist. Dr.Xu is an amazing physician!! He showed me great care and concern. He explained my test results to me. He came from his office to see me in recovery to discuss my diagnosis of HOCM. He made sure I understood everything he was explaining to me. By Dr Xu coming to see me on Wednesday , we were able to leave Cleveland that day instead of waiting until Thursday to return to Tennessee ! That saved us another hotel bill !! That was so very kind and considerate. He is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. Wonderful bed side manner !!

Dr. Bo Xu was very courteous and answered all my questions that I asked of him, in detail so that I could better understand my medical condition and how it compares to previous visits I have had with Dr. Bo Xu over the last few years. We discussed proposed treatment options for the future depending on test results, etc. He Is very knowledgeable, which is why I go to the Cleveland Clinic every year to get my heart problem checked, to make sure that it hasn't gotten worse, where I might need surgery. He is the best cardiologist that I ever had.
