Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 4/1/2019, Dr. Hashmi has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr.Hashmi was impressive not only in his expertise but also his warmth! He took his time, listening and explaining. It's difficult to wait for your opportunity to see the doctor but when he took his time with you it makes the wait easier to accept.

Dr. Hashmi took more time with me than any medical professional ever has and reviewed every aspect of my case. I know this because it was as if he knew me when he came in the room-he actually repeated things to me that I had put in my application to come to the Cleveland clinic. Never have I felt like someone really cared. I finally think I may be able to get the care and help I need to better and the answers I need regarding what is causing my pain. I am hoping my prayers are being answered through your clinic.God bless

Dr Hashmi is an effective communicator; listening and explaining. I would score him "excellent" above "very good" if that were an option for the above questions.

This appointment was under the auspices of the National Consult program. Dr. Hashmi described himself as the "quarterback" and informed me that while he would be unable to keep the followup appointment on the third day of my visit, he would provide me with an overall assessment of my case and follow through with whatever would be needed in my case to resolve my issues. That report was not provided. There has been no followup whatsoever. I called the office to ask that my case be addressed. I was told that Dr. Hashmi was away and that another physician would have to be assigned to my case. I have heard nothing since. Clearly my case has fallen through a crack. There has been no resolution to my case, and it seems that the Cleveland Clinic will not be providing one. I do regret losing the service of Dr. Hashmi, because he seemed very competent and engaged.

He,. Dr. Hashmi, is the best dr I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. He really listened and nailed exactly what I needed from him, to think outside the box He was prepared and had taken the time to read what I wrote months ago and reviewed it with me to make sure it was still current.

I was informed immediately about the wait time which I appreciated. Because this dr is very thorough, I knew he would take the same amount of time with me. Even though the wait time was very long, it can be a good thing.
