Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

The doctor told me about several things I can try to help my eyes. He also pointed out that a skin condition I have could affect my eye health. In all the years I have seen ophthalmologists, no one has ever mentioned this to me before. I appreciate the doctor's thoroughness.

Reviewed on Jul 12, 2018

I believe the doctor is overbooked. There is a long waiting time in the office before you can see him.

Reviewed on Jul 3, 2018

This was a routine yearly eye appointment, but this was a new doctor. I had my previous eye records sent to him in advance of the visit. It seemed that the records were not read until I mentioned that they were sent. The overall office atmosphere seemed to me chaotic. A nurse/caregiver did my refraction, another eye doctor did my deep eye exam after my eye drops to dilate my eyes, and then Dr. Markakis came in and looked at the computer, looked in my eyes, and was talking to the other doctor, and there was another person who came in, and all of them were just talking to each other about things, and also mentioned my eye exam. That's why I feel this was a chaotic atmosphere. There were other patients in other rooms and passing by. And then when I was finished, I had to ask the doctor what he found out. And then he told me somewhat clearly what his exam revealed. He gave me a very detailed "After Visit Summary." I know he is a very good eye doctor to work for the Cole Eye Clinic of Cleveland Clinic. I don't want to say anything negative, but these are my feelings.

I had an emergent eye injury. Dr Markakis was able assess and recommend immediate treatment necessary to correct the injury. I truly appreciated his ability to diagnose and recommend the appropriate treatment. He knew I was nervous and his precise skill, explanation of the procedure and chairside manner to assure me that I would be fine was superb. in addition his office staff was so very kind and friendly. Overall, I was extremely grateful for this experience. Thank you.

like I said before 3 and a half hrs in the office is way tooooooooooooo long even if the dr and staff is great.

Dr. Markakis is very thorough and never makes me feel like he's in a hurry to move on to the next patient. IF there is a waiting period at all, I know it's because he's taking his time with the patient before me.

Always a pleasure to have an appt. with Dr.Markakis, he AND his staff are very nice and very efficient.

Doctor was very personable, knowledgeable, and patient. He immediately put me at ease, and answered all questions and concerns I had, ensuring that I understood what was being discussed.

Dr. Markarkis is excellent. Carefully explained my condition. Gave me time for questions and answered them thoroughly. He gave me clear instructions about eye drops and follow-up instructions. He told me what to look for and why I should return.

Dr. George Markakis is an excellent doctor. He is smart, a careful listener, has a concerned manner. He explained things clearly and answered questions clearly. His office runs smoothly. His practice from front desk employee to assistants to him is excellent. I am very grateful to have him as my eye doctor.

Bad experience with this office since Dr. Markakis joined the Clinic. Too many appts scheduled. Too long waiting - up to 2 hours. He is a compassionate doctor who takes his time with each patient. His appts should not be scheduled so close together.

Dr. Markokis is very thorough yet easy to talk to. He puts everyone at ease.

Reviewed on Apr 18, 2018

At this visit I had a series of eye tests and then saw the doctor. We are informed to expect 2 hours for everything to be completed; but it actually took less then that. Dr. Markokis had many patients that day but we all moved through the process very efficiently.

Reviewed on Apr 11, 2018

I waited for my appointment slightly over an hour and a half. Some of the other patients were annoyed at the wait time. But, Dr. Markakis had an emergency patient and another that had some difficult problems. For me, he can take all the time with these patients that he needed to render help because if I had the problems, I would want him to take all the time he needs with me. Isn't that the definition of a great, concerned physician? It is in my mind.

Dr. Markakis is an excellent doctor and I won't go to anyone else.

Dr. Markakis and his staff were incredibly kind and respectful. I appreciated that very much. I also did not feel rushed during the appointment.

Dr went out of his way to help make sure that the pharmacy used for my prescriptions would honor a manufacturer discount - this was very much appreciated.
